We all know that chrome is the more popular choice for luxury tapware. But i think gold derserves a little more credit than what it gets. It may seem a little old fashioned, but with a touch of gold, i got to say it’s quite alluring and even… quite romantic…
Designers Talk & Tips
♦ Gold is a soft metal, therefore, does not wear well long term. Our experience shows most bathrooms with gold plated tap ware have serious signs of wear within 3 years of installation.
♦Gold plating varies considerably from product to product. Therefore, you must be careful as it can be drastic in colour variations.
♦Consider having all of the gold plated products re-plated by a plating specialist so you get a consistant colour and finish for all the products within the bathroom.
♦Be very careful with product selections as many manufacturers do not give gold as an option. For example. flush buttons & toilet hinges. However, if you have the time you can have these removed and plated.
Modern Bathroom Design – Le Giare by Ceramica Cielo
“Le Giare may be the epitome from the contemporary bathroom”
We like this modern design by Ceramica Cielo called Le Giare. Released at Cersaie 2011 in Bologna, Italia this fall, this new design by Claudio Sivertrin features elegant oval curves and fluid lines all inspired through the egg. The sink, toilet and bidet are available in wall-mounted and floor-standing models, offering a clean aesthetic sans base or visible hardware, aside from the sleek, high-polished taps. Select from glossy white, glossy black, stone and anthracite finishes.
Bubbles Takes Out Another HIA Award
At the 2011 HIA Victorian Housing Awards State Finals at Crown Towers, Melbourne
last Friday, November 4, 2011, an esteemed judging panel awarded Bubbles
Bathrooms Victorian Bathroom of the Year Award ($40K+). “It is just fantastic,”
says Bubbles founder Owen Barnes. “Particularly for such a cool bathroom. It
has been such a great project.”
The master bathroom was the last part of an expansive inner city Melbourne
warehouse to be renovated by its owners. The old bathroom featured black and
white chequered tiles, a cramped shower/bath area and outdated vanities.
Bubbles Bathrooms set out to create a bathroom that complemented the stylish
warehouse space. “The end result is a real expression of contemporary luxury,”
says Owen.
The bathroom includes a striking black mosaic feature wall, clever inset
storage, a spacious walk-in shower area and oversized vanity basin. The
renovation includes a complete reorganization of the space as well as upgrades
to fixtures, fittings, lighting, drainage, ventilation, water saving and new
raised flooring. The color scheme works around china white and muted greys that
set off the feature mosaic. The overall feel is of a private sanctuary, an
urban retreat.
Bubbles Bathrooms is thrilled to be recognized again for a luxurious renovation
of an inner-city loft master bathroom. Melbourne bathroom specialists Bubbles
Bathrooms has won 39 HIA state and national bathroom awards in just 11 years.
CONGRATULATIONS BUBBLES!
